{"id":329150,"date":"2017-06-17T17:33:32","date_gmt":"2017-06-17T17:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=329150"},"modified":"2017-06-17T17:33:32","modified_gmt":"2017-06-17T17:33:32","slug":"ama-clears-illegal-dumpsite-at-okponglo-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/ama-clears-illegal-dumpsite-at-okponglo-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"AMA clears &#8216;illegal&#8217; dumpsite at Okponglo [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Waste Management Directorate of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has finally moved in to clear an illegal dumpsite at Okponglo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-329155\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AMA-5.jpg\" alt=\"ama-5\" width=\"872\" height=\"471\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Directorate had earlier announced that the illegal dumpsite at Okponglo and five others had been shut down but checks by<strong> Citi News<\/strong> showed otherwise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News&#8217;<\/strong> Caleb Kudah subsequently visited the site and reported that amidst rainfall, officers were dispatched to clear the site.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-329152\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AMA-1.jpg\" alt=\"ama-1\" width=\"890\" height=\"624\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-329156\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AMA.jpg\" alt=\"ama\" width=\"867\" height=\"462\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to<strong> Citi News,<\/strong> the Waste Management Director of AMA, Anthony Mensah indicated that government was expected to clear the dump site last Monday but encountered \u00a0some challenges hence postponed it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-329152\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AMA-1.jpg\" alt=\"ama-1\" width=\"838\" height=\"588\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the AMA, other landfill sites within the Glefe, Okponglo, Adedenkpo, Tunga and Mallam Market areas have also been closed down .<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Accra Metropolis has no permanent landfill site, a situation which has forced some residents to create their own dump sites.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Caleb Kudah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Waste Management Directorate of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has finally moved in to clear an illegal dumpsite at Okponglo.
