The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Nawaane, has called on the Upper East Regional Police Command to prosecute persons complicit in the lynching of a 67-year old woman, who was accused of being a witch at Yenboka Kenna, a town in Pelungu in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.<\/p>\n
The Bolgatanga Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances under which the widow was lynched, and has five suspects in its custody.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”36PLVlFIHcrFAiWFlIoXOR40z9FHJTU0″]While police say investigations to unravel the mystery is ongoing,\u00a0 five suspects are standing trial at the Bolgatanga Magistrate court for their alleged roles in the incident.<\/p>\n
According to the Nabdam legislator, any undue influence on the Police will compromise justice for the deceased.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0after a visit to the family of late Yenboka Kenna , Dr. Nawaane intimated that, the Police should resist any form of external influence from the public in seeking justice for the deceased.<\/p>\n “My sincere condolences to the bereaved family and that this should be the last time this calamity should happen in Nabdam. I will categorically deny my involvement \u00a0in trying to influence the ongoing \u00a0investigations by the Police.
