{"id":32843,"date":"2014-07-18T10:52:42","date_gmt":"2014-07-18T10:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=32843"},"modified":"2014-07-18T10:52:42","modified_gmt":"2014-07-18T10:52:42","slug":"govt-awaits-approval-of-experts-to-issue-eurobond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/07\/govt-awaits-approval-of-experts-to-issue-eurobond\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt awaits approval of experts to issue Eurobond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government is expected to issue the country\u2019s next Eurobond when it gets the green light from its transaction advisors.<\/p>\n<p>According to finance minister Seth Tekper the advice of the experts will determine the exact period for conducting road shows and floating the bond.<\/p>\n<p>Government has appointed<b>\u00a0<\/b>Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank\u00a0and Standard Chartered Bank as lead transaction advisors for Ghana\u2019s next Eurobond issue.<\/p>\n<p>Local firms Databank, EDC Stockbrokers a subsidiary of the Ecobank Group and Strategic African Securities have also been appointed as co- managers of the transaction.<\/p>\n<p>Dentons and JLD &amp; MB Legal Consultancy have also been appointed as international and local counsel for the transaction respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier finance minister Seth Tekper dismissed reports that government had suspended plans to issue the bond due to unfavorable market conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The $1 billion Eurobond will be used to fund capital expenditure in the 2014 Budget.<\/p>\n<p>It will also be used as counterpart funding for pipeline projects and the refinancing of domestic and external debt.<\/p>\n<p>Last year Ghana successfully raised $1 billion from the international market in the second issue which was heavily oversubscribed.<\/p>\n<p>By: \u00a0Vivian Kai Mensah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government is expected to issue the country\u2019s next Eurobond when it gets the green light from its transaction advisors.
