The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Mohammed Abdul Samed Gunu has said the rift between the appointed Municipal Chief Executive MCE of the area, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu and some aggrieved NPP constituency executives is likely to reduce their chances of winning the next elections.<\/p>\n
For the third consecutive time, the angry residents staged a demonstration against the MCE and have vowed to prevent her from working.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”2eKFwXRUCdZDdKjsEQk4mO70DXNfXA67″]Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, Mr Gunu said the faction between the two individuals if not addressed might affect the fortunes of the NPP.<\/p>\n “The angry Savelugu residents have staged a number of\u00a0demonstrations against the \u00a0Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, and have vowed to prevent her from occupying the office even at the peril of their lives.<\/p>\n \u201cIf such a thing should happen, there is a possibility that it will ruin our chances come 2020 because the constituency is a strong hold of the NDC and this is the first time we have won the seat. It is a very fragile situation. If we don\u2019t take time and handle it properly, the party is likely to lose come 2020 elections,\u201d the MP said.<\/p>\n According to the protesters, the MCE is an alien who played no role in the party\u2019s victory. \u00a0They have also accused her of paying for her confirmation.<\/p>\n They say they are not bothered by the security implications of their actions, since they believe they are\u00a0in the interest of the Savelugu-Nantong Municipality.<\/p>\n Hajia Alima begs Savelugu residents to accept MCE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama has appealed to residents of Savelugu to desist from preventing their MCE from working.<\/p>\n Speaking at a one-day National Validation Workshop on Draft Fee-Fixing Guidelines, Hajia Mahama said \u201cthe MCE has been confirmed so I expect the media people to educate the people to know that the woman has been confirmed.
