{"id":327792,"date":"2017-06-12T17:24:48","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T17:24:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=327792"},"modified":"2017-06-12T17:24:48","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T17:24:48","slug":"broadcasters-petition-nmc-over-porn-showing-tv-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/broadcasters-petition-nmc-over-porn-showing-tv-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"Broadcasters petition NMC over \u2018Porn-showing\u2019 TV stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two broadcasters, Messrs Tommy-Annan Forson and James Kwasi Oberko, have made a complaint against three television stations in Ghana for showing films with pornographic scenes on their channels.<\/p>\n<p>The two, on Monday, 12th June, 2017, presented their complaint to the National Media Commission and the Ministry of Information against TV XYZ, Ice TV and Thunder TV, for showing these films to their audience.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, it is against the broadcasting standards for television stations to show porn materials irrespective of what time they are shown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have realized that these TV stations are showing things that are against the media commission\u2019s standards and as concerned citizens, we thought it wise to make a complaint to the right authorities, to prompt them to take the necessary actions,\u201d James told <strong>Citifmonline.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james.jpg 5184w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/james-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" alt=\"\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>They presented to the Executive Secretary of the National Media Commission, George Sarpong, an album of compiled photos taken from porn scenes shown across the television stations in question.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the complaint, Tommy Annan-Forson said: \u201cthese things have been going on for quite a while. It started on social media and people started asking questions as to why some television stations would show porn. Some years ago, Cable Gold was doing same, I captured it, reported to the media commission and they stopped them.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan.jpg 5184w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/showbiz.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/annan-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" alt=\"\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tommy Annan-Forson<\/p>\n<p>In his response, Mr. George Sarpong congratulated James and Tommy for taking such a bold step in the interest of Ghana and assured them of\u00a0their support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank you for the effort that you put into this and I hope that we will get back to you.
