<\/p>\nAlliance for Women in Media, a Non-Government Organization has started a campaign to curb mob action also known as instant justice in the country.<\/p>\n
According to the organization, made up of mostly prominent women in the media fraternity the constant report of innocent lives lost at the hands of angry mobs was a cause for worry.<\/p>\n
This campaign comes at the back of the brutal killing of a soldier, Major Maxwell Adam Mahama on Monday, May 29 at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region and another lynching of a 67-year-old woman at the Pelungu Market in the Upper East Region who was accused of being a witch.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Speaking at a formal visit to the family and widow of the late solider at Burma camp, member of the Alliance for Women in Media, Anita Erskine pledge the support of the association in the fight to acquire justice for all.<\/p>\n
According to her, it was important for the media to educate the public on the negative effect of such action in our society and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this current generation where a lot of women are getting together and supporting each other, we know for sure that from this day forward you have a support system in us. You have sisters who have vow to come together to talk to the issue, that maybe as an industry we have been sweeping things under the rug for too long. We believe that no other wife or sister or woman, for as long as we have the various platforms that we have, and for as long as we have the voice that we do, will go through what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

“In July, my sisters and I in the Alliance for Women in Media are going to conduct a seminar to talk about the role of women in mob injustice, the role women must play to prevent mob action. Be that we are victims or even actually involved in causing the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n
Presenting some gifts to the widow, Barbara Mahama which included an undisclosed amount of money, some boxes of bottled water and a wreath, President of the Organization, Shamina Moslem prayed for strength for the young widow and reiterated the commitment by the organization to join the fight against mob injustice and an end to the senseless killing of innocent souls.<\/p>\n
