{"id":326280,"date":"2017-06-07T17:46:06","date_gmt":"2017-06-07T17:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=326280"},"modified":"2017-06-07T17:46:06","modified_gmt":"2017-06-07T17:46:06","slug":"arrangements-for-major-mahamas-state-funeral-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/arrangements-for-major-mahamas-state-funeral-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrangements for Major Mahama&#8217;s state funeral announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The State Protocol Office has outlined details of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama\u2019s funeral service.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;t9fc7KGVawNa122xMLwzPEpO96GxNjHK&#8221;]A statement from the office indicated that, the deceased will be given a state burial with \u201cfull military honours at the Osu Military Cemetery, after a burial service at the Forecourt of the State House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The late soldier is to be buried on Friday, June 9th, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The other burial and funeral rites as listed in the statement are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vigil Service at Arakan Officers Mess on Thursday 8<sup>th<\/sup> June 2017 at 1900 hrs<\/li>\n<li>Body of deceased will be moved from 37 Military Hospital to Forecourt of State House on Friday 9<sup>th<\/sup> June 2017 at 0600 hrs for filing past. Burial Service commences at 0910 hrs.<\/li>\n<li>Procession to Osu Military Cemetery for internment after the burial service. Order of procession to the cemetery to be announced during the burial service.<\/li>\n<li>Final funeral rites to be held at the Forecourt of the State House immediately after burial<\/li>\n<li>Thanksgiving service will be held at Light House Chapel Internatinal, Qodesh, North Kaneshie-Accra on Sunday 11<sup>th<\/sup> June at 1030 hrs.<\/li>\n<li>Final funeral rites will be held at Bole fro, 13<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 15<sup>th<\/sup> June 2017 and Tumu from 16<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 18<sup>th<\/sup> June 2017 respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Adam Mahama was lynched and partly burnt by some youth of Denkyria-Obuasi in the Central Region, who claimed they thought he was an armed robber.<\/p>\n<p>About 40 persons have so far been arrested in connection with the murder, out of which some have been remanded in police custody.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monument to be erected in honour of Major Mahama<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo\u00a0has announced plans to erect a monument in honour of Major Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>The President made this announcement when he visited the family of the deceased.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced \u00a0the setting up of a Ghc500,000 Trust Fund to cater for the education of the late military officer&#8217;s children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n <a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EfeAnsah\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @EfeAnsah<\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s) [0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State Protocol Office has outlined details of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama\u2019s funeral service.
