{"id":325971,"date":"2017-06-06T17:30:22","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T17:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=325971"},"modified":"2017-06-06T17:30:22","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T17:30:22","slug":"herbert-mensah-supports-nima-flood-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/herbert-mensah-supports-nima-flood-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Herbert Mensah supports Nima flood victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Businessman, philanthropist and President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Mr.\u00a0Herbert Mensah, on Sunday\u00a0empathized with some families in the Nima enclave of Accra, who\u00a0were\u00a0affected by devastating flood waters two years ago by breaking bread with them in their Ramadan period.<\/p>\n<p>Just before the breaking of the fast at the Baaba\u00a0Attah\u00a0Mosque,\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Mensah presented beverages, Ever Pure water, and other food items including Gino tomato and noodle products to several people.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking before the breaking of bread with the families, the philanthropist, who also started the initiative \u2018May 9 Stadium Disaster Remembered\u2019 for sixteen (16) years, said: \u201cI am humbled by the opportunity to sit here and to break bread with you. I like to show something that says the ordinary people are the important people. I don\u2019t believe in \u2018Big Man Big Man\u2019 because a Big Man cannot be a Big Man without brothers and sisters.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Herbert-Mensah-Nima-victims.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-325973\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Herbert-Mensah-Nima-victims.jpg\" alt=\"herbert-mensah-nima-victims\" width=\"566\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if I come here, \u00a0it is to show you that I respect you. When I do these things it is for respect and concern. I am a Christian, an Anglican and I am here with you because we are all one, there is only one Allah. if you are good he knows it. If you are bad, he knows it.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He added that, \u201cI did not lose anybody on June 3. I did not lose anybody on May 9. So if I am sitting here to break bread with you, I do it with humility.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries,\u00a0 Imam Shaibu Yahaya of the Baaba\u00a0Attah\u00a0Mosque, thanked\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Herbert Mensah for his empathy and continuous\u00a0support for the families of disaster victims and other poor people. He prayed for Allah\u2019s blessing for him and all those who support the poor in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shows he cares for people who are suffering. It is a good gesture to come and break the fast with us. It is a great blessing for him to do that,\u201d one beneficiary happily\u00a0remarked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Herbert-Mensah-Nima-victims2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-325974\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Herbert-Mensah-Nima-victims2.jpg\" alt=\"herbert-mensah-nima-victims2\" width=\"566\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another beneficiary said \u201cWe were not expecting this.
