The Ghana Chamber of Mines has stated that it will engage government on how to implement the gold refinery policy to benefit the mining sector.<\/p>\n
Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu earlier hinted of government\u2019s plan to soon roll out a gold refinery policy to retain most of Ghana\u2019s gold.<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Amewu, a lot of income is lost due to the exportation of raw gold.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Citi Business News, the Director of External Relations and Communications at the\u00a0Ghana Chamber of Mines,\u00a0Ahmed Nantogmah said although it is a good policy, his outfit will speak to government on how best it will impact its members.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t have any information about the capacity of the refinery, it\u2019s just been mentioned. So until we know the refinery we are not going to know whether we can meet its requirements or not but I think it is a good policy that we will look at and see how it can benefit the nation and we can all work together on that. So we will look at it and see how we can be of benefit.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He expressed the chamber\u2019s readiness to assist government boost the mining sector to rake in the needed income for national development.<\/p>\n
