{"id":325759,"date":"2017-06-06T09:30:11","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T09:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=325759"},"modified":"2017-06-06T09:30:11","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T09:30:11","slug":"over-19000-sit-for-bece-in-upper-east-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/over-19000-sit-for-bece-in-upper-east-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 19,000 sit for BECE in Upper East region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 19,871 candidates from 530 Junior High Schools in the Upper East Region, are taking part in this year&#8217;s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).<\/p>\n<p>Out of the number, 9,821 are males, while 10,050 are females writing in 79 examination centers across the region.<\/p>\n<p>The Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari Ayine, accompanied by the regional director of education, Jane Sabina Obeng, visited some examination centers on Monday [June 6, 2017].<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-325763\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Upper-East-BECE-4-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"upper-east-bece-4\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rockson Bukari impressed on the candidates to answer the questions independent of other people\u2019s assistance.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the students to eschew all forms of examination malpractice.<\/p>\n<p>He said government was committed to improving the educational system of the country particularly the transition from Basic education to Secondary education through its Free SHS policy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rockson admonished the candidates to work hard and excel in their exams in order to benefit from the free SHS policy which begins this September.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-325762\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Upper-East-BECE-3-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"upper-east-bece-3\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The regional minister visited the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (BOGISS), Bolgatanga Technical Institute(BOTECH) and the Zuarungu Senior High School examination centers.<\/p>\n<p>For her part, the Regional Director of Education, Jane Sabina Obeng, expressed satisfaction at the turn of events on the first day of the examination at the centers visited, adding that, measures are already in place to check the incidence of cheating in the examination.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-325760\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Upper-East-BECE-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"upper-east-bece-1\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some candidates after their English paper told <strong>Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>they did not have a tough time answering the questions and were hopeful that the subsequent papers will be\u00a0better.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Frederick Awuni\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 19,871 candidates from 530 Junior High Schools in the Upper East Region, are taking part in this year&#8217;s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
