The Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has described as harsh\u00a0the 3-year-ban<\/strong><\/a><\/span> imposed on renowned human rights lawyer, Francis Xavier-Sosu by the General Legal Council.<\/p>\n According to him, the Council must review the ban.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”4tzSFNnDIZE17RQMfV2Frz1YyM0MA8hJ”]The General Legal Council (GLC) in a letter announced it had slapped the ban on lawyer Sosu for\u00a0\u2018overcharging\u2019 a client<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>and also for advertising his services on Facebook. \u00a0But Franklin Cudjoe believes the sanction is unfair.<\/p>\n In a Facebook post on Sunday, he suggested that the GLC\u2019s regulation that barred lawyers from advertising their services was not the best.<\/p>\n \u201cI now understand why many lawyers in Ghana try to insert themselves into politically charged cases so they get noticed by the public. The reason is that, lawyers I’m told don’t have to advertise their trade. Is this sensible?,\u201d he quizzed.<\/p>\n
