{"id":325145,"date":"2017-06-04T08:18:26","date_gmt":"2017-06-04T08:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=325145"},"modified":"2017-06-04T08:18:26","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T08:18:26","slug":"group-demands-justice-compensation-for-june-3-disaster-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/group-demands-justice-compensation-for-june-3-disaster-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Group demands justice, compensation for June 3 disaster victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A social action group, One Ghana Movement, is advocating for justice for persons who were affected in the June 3 twin disaster which happened at the Goil fuel station in Accra some two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the families of the over 150 persons who lost their lives in the rain and fire explosion incident, as well as those who suffered several injuries on that fateful day, are yet to be fully compensated.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fciti97.3%2Fvideos%2F10154920987296107%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-325148 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/one-ghana-movement-10-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"one-ghana-movement-10\" width=\"707\" height=\"472\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some of the survivors who struggle to fend for themselves and their families have had to live with their scars and deformities two years on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325153 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/one-ghana-movement-16.jpg\" alt=\"one-ghana-movement-16\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325155 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_5671.jpg\" alt=\"img_5671\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325157 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/one-ghana-movement-4.jpg\" alt=\"one-ghana-movement-4\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One Ghana Movement has however threatened a series of actions including resorting to the court if need be, in order to get justice and compensation for the victims.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325159 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/one-ghana-movement-7.jpg\" alt=\"one-ghana-movement-7\" width=\"768\" height=\"497\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the One Ghana Movement in Accra on Friday, a member of the group, Lawyer Samson Lardy Ayenini, said they are ready to ensure that officials whose negligence led to the disaster are prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-325150 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/one-ghana-movement-13.jpg\" alt=\"one-ghana-movement-13\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pursuit of justice will not only result in fair compensation to victims and their families and punishment to those officials who are found culpable, but even more drive the sense of accountability and responsibility of citizens, corporate Ghana and public officials\u2026.Citizens shall be emboldened not to allow their rights and privileges to be trampled upon, for public servants and politicians shall realize that they will be held accountable for their actions and must give their optimum.
