The National House of Chiefs is appealing to government to resolve the concerns of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) with urgency.<\/p>\n

The President of the National House of Chiefs,\u00a0Naa Professor John Nabila made this plea on behalf of the umbrella body of all chiefs in the country when the President called on them in Kumasi.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs further called on POTAG to\u00a0suspend the\u00a0strike in the interest of their students as efforts are made to resolve the impasse.<\/p>\n

The Polytechnic teachers have been on strike for more than two months over unpaid book and research allowance, forcing Polytechnics across the country to shutdown.<\/p>\n

However, the National House of Chiefs have expressed their worry about the negative effects of the\u00a0strike and are therefore calling for an early resolution by all sides involved.<\/p>\n

The President of the National House of Chiefs,\u00a0Naa Professor John Nabila spoke on their behalf.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cwe would like to appeal to government through the\u00a0 Minister for Education to meet the leadership of POTAG to resolve the issue amicably since they have informed us that they are ready to dialogue with the Government. We also appeal to Polytechnic teachers to reconsider their actions and returned to the classrooms while they dialogue with the Government to find a permanent solution to their concerns.<\/p>\n
