The Director of African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Rasheed Dramani has described the choice of Mr. Alban Bagbin as Majority leader as the best decision for Ghana\u2019s Parliament.<\/p>\n

Mr. Bagbin was appointed as Majority leader after President John Mahama nominated the current occupier, Benjamin Kumbour for the position of Minister for Defence in a Ministerial reshuffle announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Explaining why the move is a best decision, Dr. Draman opined that \u201c I think Hon. Bagbin has a lot of experience. If\u00a0 I\u2019m not mistaken, he is one of the two or three remaining experienced MPs in Parliament.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Dr. Draman said Hon. Bagbin also \u201cremains one of the few experienced Ministers dedicated to Parliamentary work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Draman was optimistic Mr. Bagbin\u2019s appointment will give him an opportunity to engage more with government.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and at the same time a leader of government business\u2026for me I look at the positive side of it because there would be a lot of opportunities for the leader to engage government.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also expressed the belief that Mr. Babgin will be more assertive and firm in his tenure of office.<\/p>\n
