{"id":324287,"date":"2017-06-01T06:00:41","date_gmt":"2017-06-01T06:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=324287"},"modified":"2017-06-01T06:00:41","modified_gmt":"2017-06-01T06:00:41","slug":"potters-village-wins-maiden-orphanage-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/potters-village-wins-maiden-orphanage-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Potter&#8217;s Village wins maiden Orphanage League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was an amazing and unforgettable experience when the children of five selected orphanages from across Ghana, battled it out for the bragging rights and winning prizes in the first edition of a one-day mini soccer tournament dubbed \u2018Orphanage League\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>After a very competitive knockout stage amongst the teams of the Great Mission International Children\u2019s Home, Save Them Young Home, Potter\u2019s Village, J\u2019Ann Royal Children\u2019s Home and the New Life International Home; Potter\u2019s Village and J\u2019Ann Royal sailed through to the finals. The final match ended with a 2-1 score line in favour of Potter\u2019s Village.<\/p>\n<p>Potter\u2019s Village received a prize of GHC 2,000, while J\u2019Ann Royal Children\u2019s Home took home GHC 1,500. The 2nd runner up walked away with GHC 1,000, while the 3rd and 4th runner-ups took consolation prizes of GHC 500 each.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-minute display of talent, exceptional skills and incredible tactics by the children was just enough evidence that Ghana has not run short of gems for her national teams.<\/p>\n<p>The energy of the crowd, deep passion from the various teams, the chants, cheers and an awesome musical performance from Baba Spirit of Angel TV and Lily M, entertained the crowd; children and adults alike.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative\u2019s CEO, Roselyn Naa Dowuona, and co-founders, Michael Boakye-Yiadom and Nii Kometey Tetteh, expressed their profound gratitude to the organisations and volunteers for their incredible support.
