The two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, are still in prison custody almost 24 hours after charges against them were dropped at an Accra High Court.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Court ordered that, the two be discharged after the State Attorney, Sefakor Batse, ruled that the trial will not continue.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”eCCKPVaHgllORgH1XHfKWgEe6pjKIST3″]The two were standing trial for robbing and killing the former MP for Abuakwa North, J.B. Danquah, at his residence at Shiashie in Accra.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service ,Vitalis Ayeh, said the suspects will be released to the Police if officials at Nsawam Prisons receive the final clearance document from the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe process from the Court is that, if somebody is discharged, they should come to the prisons and pick their properties, and again they should come with a discharge warrant from a court of competent jurisdiction directing the prison authorities to release them from prison custody. As at Monday, when they returned, the discharge warrant had not come. We are waiting for it … We understand it is on its way coming. As soon as we get it and we are satisfied that it is coming from a court of competent jurisdiction, we release them to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that the two suspects would have been discharged by the court as soon as the judgement was passed if it was \u201cjust a normal remand case.\u201d<\/p>\n

How J. B Danquah was killed<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Abuakwa North legislator was on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, stabbed to death at his Shiashie residence in Accra.<\/p>\n

Two days after his murder, the then Accra Regional Police Command, led by COP George A. Dampare, arrested a prime suspect, Daniel Asiedu, who allegedly confessed to committing the crime.<\/p>\n

Vincent Bosso was later arrested as having conspired with Asiedu to commit the crime.<\/p>\n

Court proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the course of the trial, the prosecution tendered in a post-mortem report of the MP, Forensic DNA Report, Blood stained T-shirt of Asiedu, a knife used by Asiedu, the three iPhones of the deceased, Asiedu\u2019s pair of slippers which he left at the crime scene, his prison records, and radiology report determining his age, his medical report, all as evidence to prosecute him.<\/p>\n

J.B Danquah\u2019s \u2018killers\u2019 will be re-arrested \u2013 Gloria Akuffo\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Investigations\u00a0into the case involving the two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of \u00a0the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, J.B Danquah, will be re-opened<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by the Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo, in an interview with Citi News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
