At least 50 persons suspected to have carried out the mob attack on a\u00a0military officer<\/strong><\/a><\/span> at Denenkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region have been arrested in connection with the crime.<\/p>\n The 50 were rounded up as part of a joint police and military operation in the area to apprehend the angry youth who attacked and burnt the soldier who had been deployed to the area on an anti-galamsey mission.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”qUJufSBU1kWiJA2OBKmNbmyHcO3WLCRm”]The deceased, Captain Maxwell Mahama<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, an officer of the 5th<\/sup> Infantry Battalion was beaten and burnt by some youth of Denenkyira-Obuasi in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region on Monday, May 29, 2017 on suspicion that he was an armed robber.<\/p>\n
