Shops belonging to foreigners in Kumasi are still locked in spite of orders by the police\u00a0for them to be\u00a0opened.<\/p>\n

The Ashanti Regional command of the Ghana Police Service ordered that Shops belonging to Nigerian retailers that were locked up on Monday July 14, 2014 are reopened.<\/p>\n

According to the police command, it is an unlawful act to close the shops as infringes on the rights of the Nigerian traders.<\/p>\n

The Spokesperson for Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Kumasi, Chief Kizito Ike Obiora tells Citi News <\/b>that the shops are still locked.<\/p>\n

The Suame spare parts dealers locked up shops belonging to Nigerian retailers in Suame Magazine in Kumasi, claiming they were contravening the laws on retail trading in Ghana.<\/p>\n

Chief Obiora told Citi News\u00a0<\/b>that\u00a0\u201cyesterday, the commander gave us assurance. In our presence he ordered the executive of GUTA to open the shops. At the moment, they haven\u2019t opened it so we are still waiting for them.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were thinking that because of the rains this morning, they\u2019ve not yet come. Whatever the case is, we are still waiting for them so if we are waiting and they don\u2019t come, we will definitely go back to report to the regional police commander,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
