{"id":320777,"date":"2017-05-19T12:39:47","date_gmt":"2017-05-19T12:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=320777"},"modified":"2017-05-19T12:39:47","modified_gmt":"2017-05-19T12:39:47","slug":"ridge-hospital-brouhaha-quashigah-to-sue-health-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/ridge-hospital-brouhaha-quashigah-to-sue-health-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Ridge Hospital brouhaha: Quashigah to sue health minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Ranking member of the Labour and Employment Committee of Parliament, Richard Quarshigah has threatened to drag the Minister of Health, Kweku Agyemang Manu to court over what he terms as the wrongful <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/18\/im-not-leaving-my-transfer-is-in-bad-faith-ridge-hospital-ceo-insists\/\">dismissal of the Medical Director<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of Ridge Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Quarshigah, the Minister\u2019s decision to dismiss the Ridge Hospital boss was arbitral and contravenes the country\u2019s labour laws.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;egLhxbDW3trwsKxTwtWGBW56IJ1yO0Gs&#8221;]There is an ensuing confusion at the Ridge Hospital following the refusal of the hospital\u2019s medical director, Dr. Thomas Anaba to leave the facility despite a letter from the Minister of Health directing him to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Anaba has said that the Ministry was acting in bad faith since it cannot provide reasons for the decision to relief him of his post.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_320562\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-320562\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-320562\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Dr.-Anaba.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Thomas Anaba\" width=\"620\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-320562\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Thomas Anaba<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Public Relations Officer of the Health Ministry, Mr. Cudjoe, Dr. Anaba in an interview on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> said, Mr. Anaba must <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/19\/even-jammeh-was-removed-anaba-will-go-health-ministry-pro\/\"><strong>accept the decision<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and \u201cgo on with life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the Keta MP, Richard Quarshigah said the situation adds to the tall list of others experienced under the Akufo-Addo administration.<\/p>\n<p>He said the happening reemphasizes the position of the minority in Parliament that the NPP government was unfairly removing persons who earned their positions on merit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that this is an unfair treatment, an infringement on the labour and employment laws of our country. The minister of health has erred and I think it is most unfair\u2026 Dr Anaba is not alone in this. There are several other cases where people who earned their employment on merit are being sacked from the position based on a perceived political affiliation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Health Minister will be invited to Parliament to answer questions on the developments at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll take this up so strongly. We will institute the process of hurling the various ministers including Agyemang Manu before parliament through excess questions when parliament resumes.
