{"id":318881,"date":"2017-05-13T14:17:14","date_gmt":"2017-05-13T14:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=318881"},"modified":"2017-05-13T14:17:14","modified_gmt":"2017-05-13T14:17:14","slug":"disgraceful-otiko-bugri-should-have-been-sacked-casely-hayford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/disgraceful-otiko-bugri-should-have-been-sacked-casely-hayford\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Disgraceful&#8221; Otiko, Bugri should have been sacked &#8211; Casely Hayford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Social commentator, Sydney Casely Hayford, believes the\u00a0Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba, and the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),\u00a0Daniel Bugri Naabu should have been dismissed for their recent public spat.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <strong>The Big Issue <\/strong>on Citi FM<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Casely Hayford said their war of words disgraced the authority vested in them, as they exhibited gross indiscipline.<\/p>\n<p>He opined that, if the NPP &#8220;had a strong enough backbone. If they were sure of themselves and secure in the way they handled affairs, those two should have been dismissed. With Bugri, it will be a little difficult because he is elected, but to remove Otiko as a minister would not be difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead, as part of the fall out of the public fracas between Madam Otiko and Bugri Naabu, the National Council of the NPP directed all party officials serving in government <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/11\/otiko-others-directed-to-resign-from-party-position\/\">to resign<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. Madam Otiko and Bugri Naabu were also ordered to\u00a0apologize\u00a0officially with written letters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Otiko-Bugri-Naabu.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-316829\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Otiko-Bugri-Naabu.jpg\" alt=\"otiko-bugri-naabu\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Among other things, their back and forth saw Bugri Naabu <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/contextly.com\/redirect\/?id=LGZUz8coDF:318031:2934:13:::sidebar:59146ac35a6039-14534233\">allege that<\/a><\/strong><\/span> the Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson\u00a0Bukari, and Otiko Djaba, were involved in the murder the late Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adams Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>The genesis of the tension, as we know, could be traced to the confusion at Modern City hotel in Tamale, where Bugri Naabu <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/05\/bugri-naabu-angry-with-otiko-tells-nana-addo-to-call-her-to-order\/\">stormed and disrupted<\/a><\/strong><\/span> a meeting organised by Madam Otiko for some women, after an alleged dispute\u00a0over the appointment of a Northern Regional Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ghana deserves better brand of politicians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Casely Hayford remained befuddled by the way the spat between the two NPP executives escalated, describing it as childish and ultimately an erosion of the offices they held.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are trying to create a certain quality of politician who will go into Parliament or be in a ministerial position where we will respect what they say and believe what they say. What this has done is to discredit them and discredit the whole political class because all that we are seeing now is childish behaviour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can\u2019t for the life of me understand why two such prominent politicians in this country who expect to be respected for what they do, and expect us to listen to them, should go about saying such things about each other in public. These are a pair of very undisciplined persons. Even if you have something to say about that person, you should not do it on air.
