Macron ran as a \u201cneither left nor right\u201d independent promised to shake up the French political system.<\/p>\n
He polled 65.1% of the total votes cast against Le Pen\u2019s 34.9%.<\/p>\n
Macron, who has never held elected office and was unknown until three years ago, is France\u2019s youngest president.<\/p>\n
