You need to know this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to love, most people have the true\u00a0definition of love\u00a0so wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Think about\u00a0the\u00a0lyrics to some of songs\u00a0you&#8217;ve heard about love.<\/p>\n<p>They talk\u00a0about how hard they want to fall, or how loving can hurt. There are\u00a0even lyrics about not being able to live alone with just themselves because their world revolves around their lover.<\/p>\n<p>Movies and television shows portray the\u00a0fairy tale ending of &#8220;happily ever after&#8221;. But that\u2019s not\u00a0what love is,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>either.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what\u00a0love is\u00a0and is not:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Love is not lust-filled or extreme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chemistry is important, but it shouldn\u2019t feel like you lose yourself when you\u2019re together.<\/p>\n<p>Nor should you feel like something is missing or that you can\u2019t live without them when you\u2019re apart. That\u2019s called co-dependency.<\/p>\n<p>When you are with your soulmate, love\u00a0<em>is<\/em>\u00a0uplifting\u00a0and\u00a0inspiring. It\u00a0causes us to grow\u00a0beyond our perceived limited possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Being in a soulmate relationship should be\u00a0the icing on the cake, not the cake itself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Love is not suffering or pain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is\u00a0easy\u00a0and\u00a0joyous. Your soulmate should\u00a0contribute to your life, not constrict it.<\/p>\n<p>And if you are feeling triggered by your partner, that\u2019s what I call \u201cThe Mirroring Effect\u201d. They are reflecting back to you things that you probably don\u2019t like about yourself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Love is not self-sacrificing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"media_embed\">\n<p>In fact, it\u2019s the exact opposite!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>My favorite analogy for this is when airlines ask you to put on your oxygen mask before putting it on another. If you\u2019re not\u00a0loving yourselffirst, then you\u2019re not going to be able to fully love another.<\/p>\n<p>Also, don\u2019t break up, or apart, from yourself to keep your lover. Stop sacrificing who you are to keep your partner happy.<\/p>\n<p>Be 100% yourself and trust and know that is exactly who your soulmate wants!<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Love is not judgmental or superior.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Love doesn\u2019t judge. It doesn\u2019t feel or act superior to anyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Love radically accepts. Love respects. Love supports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Love does not fix your life or get your needs met.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you need someone to make your life better, that isn\u2019t love. That\u2019s neediness.<\/p>\n<p>And, that means that something is missing from your life you can\u2019t give yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Loving yourself means knowing that all of your needs are already met and that\u00a0you are whole and complete\u00a0exactly as you are right here and now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Love helps you\u00a0deepen in new levels of self-awareness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Love is\u00a0from the inside out. It is\u00a0already within us\u00a0and\u00a0gets activated\u00a0when we feel love for another. External love can shift and fade.\u00a0Internal love isconstant and permanent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You don\u2019t \u201cfall in love&#8221;\u00a0\u2014\u00a0you\u00a0expand in love.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Love doesn\u2019t expect you to make your soulmate happy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is not your responsibility to make anyone happy but yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Love is not pressuring your soulmate to make you feel a certain way or to do things for you.<\/p>\n<p>Love is a\u00a0partnership. It is\u00a0fair and equal.<\/p>\n<p>Love\u00a0adds to your life, it doesn&#8217;t\u00a0complete\u00a0it (sorry, Jerry Maguire).<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Love doesn\u2019t die.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Love never dies, or fades, unless we choose it.<\/p>\n<p>If love is activated in us, it can never disappear.<\/p>\n<p>We may sabotage it, block it, or forget about it. But it <em>never <\/em>goes away.<\/p>\n<p>Love is\u00a0a verb. Flow it\u00a0and\u00a0receive it.<\/p>\n<p>Love is an\u00a0adventure. It is a\u00a0moment-by-moment getting to know each other\u00a0as we are constantly changing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is\u00a0awareness. It is deeply\u00a0spiritual.
