{"id":315992,"date":"2017-05-02T14:36:43","date_gmt":"2017-05-02T14:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=315992"},"modified":"2017-05-02T14:36:43","modified_gmt":"2017-05-02T14:36:43","slug":"nadowlikaleo-ndc-wants-bagbin-in-2020-flagbearership-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/05\/nadowlikaleo-ndc-wants-bagbin-in-2020-flagbearership-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Nadowli\/Kaleo NDC wants Bagbin in 2020 flagbearership race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency executives of the Nadowli\/Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region, are backing calls for their\u00a0Member of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to join the race to become the next flagbearer\u00a0for the party for the 2020 polls.<\/p>\n<p>This came as posters with Mr. Bagbin, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, announcing his readiness to contest for the flagbearer slot of the NDC made rounds on social media.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;6OLsadlTL7h6rixOaGq0xFAtyHwXFMGC&#8221;]The posters, which are circulating on social media with a picture of Alban Bagbin have the caption: \u201cBagbin 2020\u201d with a proposed motto \u201cTried, Tested &amp; Committed\u201d beneath it.<\/p>\n<p>But it is unclear where the posters are emanating from.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, in a<strong> Citi News<\/strong> interview, the Communications Officer of\u00a0the constituency, Isaac Badita, said the Constituency is fully behind the longest serving MP should he confirm a bid for the presidency<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [Bagbin] talked about it at a function and we realized that it is a good move and looking at the position of the party at this time, we think that it will be good for him to be part of the race and we will see what will come out of it in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last time we were in opposition in 2001 to 2008, the role he played as minority leader and the way he climbed the ladder to where he is with his contribution to the party and governance, I think that he is well prepared to handle the mantle of the flagbearership,\u201d Mr. Badita noted further.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/alban.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5670 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/alban.jpg\" alt=\"Alban Bagbin\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/alban.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/alban-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alban Bagbin, born on 24 September 1957, hails from the Upper West Region of Ghana.
