<\/a><\/p>\nThe awardees included the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, Minister for Zongo and Inner City Development, Alhaji Boniface Abubakari Saddique, the immediate past Central Bank Governor, Dr. Nashiru Issahaku, and Minority Leader of Ghana\u2019s Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.<\/p>\n
The rest are Deputy Minister for Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, Professor David Millar, Vice Chancellor of Millar Open University, Manasseh Azuri Awuni of Multimedia Group, Abdul-Hayi Moomen of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Alhassan Andani of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Dr. Abass Adam, a neurosurgeon at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and Alhaji Abdulai Yahaya, first District Secretary of Tamale under the CPP government.<\/p>\n
Investor Consult CEO<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Chief Executive Officer of Investor Consult, Prince Siita Hissan Sofo, said the event sought to encourage investors and entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana to favourably compete with their southern counterparts.<\/p>\n
According to him, over 200 nominations were received for 17 different categories and eventually 56 entries were shortlisted for the awards.<\/p>\n
BESSFA Rural Bank Limited GM<\/strong><\/p>\nThe bank\u2019s General Manager, Solomon Awini, also received an award in the mentorship category.<\/p>\n
As a former investment officer of the Social Security and National Investment Trust (SSNIT), Mr. Awini revealed that he took over BESSFA Rural Bank Limited at a time staff salaries payment was a major challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the time I took over as General Manager of the bank in 1991, there was no money and most customers including individuals and organisations deserted the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI had to appeal to organisations such as the Catholic Church, Presby Agric Station and ISODEC who all spoke to their partners abroad to come and invest in the bank to enable it stand on its feet again.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bank is now one of the best and formidable rural banks in the country and I can boast that BESSFA Rural Bank Limited is currently the 29th<\/sup> Rural Bank among 146 rural banks in Ghana and is rated strong, the highest rating given to a rural bank.\u201d<\/p>\nHe said the bank in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has over the years provided scholarship packages to needy but brilliant students reading medicine both home and abroad.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a rural bank, we have continued to support medical students to study abroad, paid fees of needy but brilliant students, donated books to educational institutions, donated building materials towards the construction of hostel facilities in schools among others.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBESSFA rural bank\u2019s performance has not gone unnoticed. In recent times, it has received awards from USAID-ADVANCE, Apex Bank and the Northern Rural Growth Programme.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Investor Consult initiated the Northern Investor Awards event to recognize, appreciate, encourage and motivate hardworking entrepreneurs and investors in Northern Ghana.<\/p>\n
