{"id":314818,"date":"2017-04-28T17:01:40","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T17:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=314818"},"modified":"2017-04-28T17:01:40","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T17:01:40","slug":"assembly-members-reject-asokore-mampong-mce-nominee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/assembly-members-reject-asokore-mampong-mce-nominee\/","title":{"rendered":"Assembly members reject Asokore-Mampong MCE nominee\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Assembly Members of the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region, have rejected President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\u2019s District Chief Executive nominee for the municipality.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-314833 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-6.jpg\" alt=\"asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-6\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Municipal Chief Executive nominee, Alhaji Alidu Seidu, failed to get two thirds of the votes of the Assembly members during his confirmation on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Eight of the 15 Assembly members voted \u2018No\u2019 while seven noted \u2018Yes.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-314829 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-2.jpg\" alt=\"asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, who was at the assembly prior to the election, called on the Assembly members to give the MCE nominee 100% votes, but this apparently fell on deaf ears.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was subsequently adjourned indefinitely following a commotion after the declaration of the result.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Regional Minister is currently in a meeting with all the Assembly Members.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-314828 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-1.jpg\" alt=\"asokore-mampong-mce-nomination-1\" width=\"768\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alhaji Seidu was among 212 persons named by the President to fill the vacant positions of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the various assemblies nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Lauretta Timah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assembly Members of the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region, have rejected President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\u2019s District Chief Executive nominee for the municipality.
