{"id":314464,"date":"2017-04-27T14:30:22","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T14:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=314464"},"modified":"2017-04-27T14:30:22","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T14:30:22","slug":"nr-minister-urges-ceasefire-over-mmdce-nominees-hostilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/nr-minister-urges-ceasefire-over-mmdce-nominees-hostilities\/","title":{"rendered":"N\/R Minister urges ceasefire over MMDCE nominees&#8217; hostilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, has called for permanent ceasefire of the hostilities that has characterized the nomination of some Municipal and District Chief Executives for some 25 district assemblies in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Some angry youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the release of some MMDCEs, went on rampage and destroyed party paraphernalia in protest.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;eSwsRrysndSZVDwXsANQbe9a2JW2AjTD&#8221;]Savelugu and Sagnarigu districts were some of the flash-points where it took police intervention to halt the chaos.<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, today (Thursday), visited some of the hotspots and called for calm. He urged the rampaging youth to be law abiding and follow due process to express their anger.<\/p>\n<p>He later paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Tolon, Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari, who rejected the President\u2019s nominee for the area, Hajia Amama Shaibu.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed to the Tolon Regent to accept the President\u2019s nominee and support her get the assembly members\u2019 confirmation. Salifu Saeed said it is the collective responsibility of traditional rulers and government to develop the nation.<\/p>\n<p>He appreciated the role of Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari in promoting peace and unity in the Dagbon state.
