{"id":314246,"date":"2017-04-27T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T06:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=314246"},"modified":"2017-04-27T06:00:04","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T06:00:04","slug":"tolon-regent-rejects-dce-nominee-hajia-amama-shaibu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/tolon-regent-rejects-dce-nominee-hajia-amama-shaibu\/","title":{"rendered":"Tolon Regent rejects DCE nominee, Hajia Amama Shaibu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1493231166854_3254\" class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">The Regent of Tolon, Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari, and some youth in the district, have rejected the President\u2019s District Chief Executive nominee, Hajia Amama Shaibu for the Tolon district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1493231166854_3279\">Mr. Abubakari has served notice of a major political upheaval in the area, if President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo fails to rescind his decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1493231166854_3277\" class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0According to him, his palace was not consulted over\u00a0Hajia Amama Shaibu\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1493231166854_3264\" class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1493231166854_3263\">Ahead of the official announcement, some angry NPP youth besieged the Tolon Regent\u2019s Palace, and backed his rejection of the nominee, Hajia Amama Shaibu\u2019s nomination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314259\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Savelugu-4.jpg\" alt=\"savelugu-4\" width=\"572\" height=\"931\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0Hajia Amama Shaibu is the NPP Northern Regional Women\u2019s Organizer, and she is a native of the Tolon district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><strong>\u00a0Savelugu\/Nantong district<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0Some irate youth also went on rampage in Savelugu Township over the appointment of their DCE, by setting ablaze NPP paraphernalia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314258\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Savelugu-3.jpg\" alt=\"savelugu-3\" width=\"543\" height=\"896\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0They also burnt car tyres on the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway, which runs through the Savelugu Township.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0This was in protest against Hajia Ayishetu Seidu\u2019s nomination for the Savelugu-Nantong district. Hajia Ayishetu until her nomination, served as \u00a0an accountant at the Tamale Teaching and Yendi hospitals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-314256\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Savelugu-1.jpg\" alt=\"savelugu-1\" width=\"408\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0Though she is one of the NPP\u2019s bank rollers in the region, the angry youth claim Hajia Ayishetu is alien to the constituency and the district at large.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0According to them, she is not a registered voter in the Savelugu constituency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314262\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Savelugu-7.jpg\" alt=\"savelugu-7\" width=\"466\" height=\"593\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0They thus appealed to President Nana Addo to reconsider his decision and do the right thing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0There are concerns that the development, if not handled well, could affect the NPP\u2019s electoral fortunes at the 2020 polls both in the Savelugu and Nantong constituencies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0The governing party for the first time since 1992, won the Savelugu seat in 2016 because of the NDC\u2019s disarray ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0<strong>Gender equity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">\u00a0One striking thing about the list of 26 MMDCE nominees for the Northern Region is gender equity.\u00a0\u00a0For the first time, the region can boast of four female DCE nominees for Bole, Sagnarigu, Tolon and Savelugu\/Nantong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\">Hajia Mary Nakobu was the only female DCE in the Northern Region for Chereponi in the immediate past NDC government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2625567154MsoNormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-314254\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Northern-Region.jpg\" alt=\"northern-region\" width=\"720\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Youth Organizer of the NPP in the Builsa North Constituency in the Upper East Region, Achawie Johnson, and the youth, have also given President Akufo-Addo within the week to change the appointment of David Afoko or incur their wrath.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to announce to his excellency that as at now, the constituency is bleeding so he should revise this thing or hold it.We know the people the President is appointing. We know them. David Afoko is my direct uncle, but we are not looking at families, we are looking at commitment and loyalty. We just want his nomination withdrawn.
