The Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs have reiterated their resolve to demonstrate against the passage of the Plant Builders Bill currently under consideration in parliament, if parliament does not address the concerns raised by civil society.<\/p>\n
The Chiefs have petitioned Parliament through the clerk of Parliament and according to them, they will demonstrate to seek the support of other concerned Ghanaians to fight against the passage of the bill if Parliament does not halt their intended approval of the bill which is seen by many as a threat to the survival of local farmers.<\/p>\n
The Registrar of the House of Chiefs in the region, Richmond Pesew confirmed that indeed, the house led by Pemampem Kabrese, the Paramount Chief of Yeji have resolved to draw the attention of the general public to the dangers ahead of Ghanaians if the bill is passed.<\/p>\n
Mr. Pesew said the house strongly believes there are a lot of concerns about the bill which must be addressed before Parliament takes a decision on it.<\/p>\n
He said as chiefs, they take matters of serious national concern seriously and should not be overlooked by Parliament.<\/p>\n
They are however calling on the general public to be wary of the bill which when passed will permit Genetically Modify Foods to be grown and sold in the country.<\/p>\n
