{"id":312580,"date":"2017-04-20T12:01:33","date_gmt":"2017-04-20T12:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=312580"},"modified":"2017-04-20T12:01:33","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T12:01:33","slug":"lets-unite-against-breast-cancer-bci-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/lets-unite-against-breast-cancer-bci-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Let\u2019s unite against breast cancer \u2013 BCI President \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian-based charity organization, Comforting Queens has donated several prosthesis to the Peace and Love Hospital at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>The two institutions share a common goal of creating awareness and educating women about breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Comforting Queens,\u00a0 Afuah Anku, told the media in Kumasi that she was motivated to join the fight against breast cancer after witnessing her mother\u00a0 go through diagnosis, treatment\u00a0 and cure.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-312587 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/bci-donation-2.jpg\" alt=\"bci-donation-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She was of the conviction that the disease could be contained provided public education was intensified and women heeded to the call not to patronize products and services not medically certified for treatment of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Comforting Queens raises money for the acquisition of wigs, bras, and prostheses for breast cancer patients in a bid to enhance their physical look and feel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-312583 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/bci-donation-5.jpg\" alt=\"bci-donation-5\" width=\"595\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospitals, who doubles as the President of Breast Care International (BCI), Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, who received the items, commended Comforting Queens for the gesture and encouraged the public to help survivors live economically viable lives after treatment, saying the fight against breast cancer is a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-312581 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/bci-donation-3.jpg\" alt=\"bci-donation-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Wiafe, who in turn gave the items to the Peace and Love Survivors Association, (PALSA), directed that they should be given to survivors with low income backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-312585 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/bci-donation-7.jpg\" alt=\"bci-donation-7\" width=\"424\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Wiafe said, a woman, according to statistics from the World Health Organization \u201cdies somewhere around the globe every sixty-nine seconds from breast cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-312586 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/bci-donation-1.jpg\" alt=\"bci-donation-1\" width=\"424\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat woman,\u201d she continued, \u201ccould be your mother, sister, niece, wife, daughter or even friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Credit: Breast Care International<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian-based charity organization, Comforting Queens has donated several prosthesis to the Peace and Love Hospital at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
