{"id":31163,"date":"2014-07-11T13:27:51","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T13:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=31163"},"modified":"2014-07-11T17:35:51","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T17:35:51","slug":"commonwealth-games-update-team-ghana-in-local-scottish-competitions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/07\/commonwealth-games-update-team-ghana-in-local-scottish-competitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Commonwealth Games update: Team Ghana in local Scottish competitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghanaian contingent for this year&#8217;s Commonwealth Games have intensified their preparations for the event by engaging in some local competitions in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The team, which has been in Ayrshire, Scotland for a few weeks now, has been getting ready for the Games through training sessions but now, according to the Chef de Mission, Chris Essilfie, the contingent has been involved in some competitions to out the athletes in the right frame for a very challenging competition like the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Essilfie revealed that about 90 athletes are currently in camp and they are going through intense training to ensure top performances across the ten disciplines-\u00a0track-and-field, boxing, shooting, taekwondo, table tennis, judo, swimming, badminton, cycling and weightlifting- that Ghana will be partaking.<\/p>\n<p>The Chef de Mission also revealed to Citi Sports that the athletes are in the right spirits as they are in very pleasing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The athletets have access to Ghanaian meals prepared by Ghanaian cooks and they listen to Ghanaian music all the time and that keeps them relaxed as they prepare for the Games.
