The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has described as unfortunate, recent disparaging remarks about government\u2019s decision to distribute free sanitary pads to some deprived female students.<\/p>\n
Government secured a loan of 156million dollars from the World Bank to improve secondary school education in the country of which part of the money would be used to secure sanitary pads to be distributed.<\/p>\n
Addressing a press conference in Accra, the national chairperson of the Coalition, Bright Kweku Appiah said they are in full support of the sanitary pad distribution.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll school buildings must have very good sanitary conditions in them, so that you create places for girls and create places for boys so that they will feel comfortable. It is part of the things we\u2019ve called for and we\u2019ve done research in that area and we\u2019ve realized that there are certain institutional facilities that do not have separate toilets for boys and girls. So girls find it difficult to attend to nature\u2019s call and to take good care of themselves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He served notice that the group will continue with the campaign until Ghanaians take note and accept the decision by government.<\/p>\n
