{"id":309532,"date":"2017-04-10T15:09:11","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T15:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=309532"},"modified":"2017-04-10T15:09:11","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T15:09:11","slug":"minority-slams-nana-addo-for-sacking-common-fund-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/minority-slams-nana-addo-for-sacking-common-fund-head\/","title":{"rendered":"Minority slams Nana Addo for &#8216;sacking&#8217; Common Fund head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minority in Parliament has lambasted President Akufo Addo for his directive to the Administrator of the District Assemblies\u2019 Common Fund to proceed on leave.<\/p>\n<p>Two weeks ago, Kojo Fynn, who is the Administrator, was asked to take an indefinite leave.<\/p>\n<p>He will be replaced by Tema West Member of Parliament, Naa Torshie Addo, although he still has some 24 months to the expiration of his tenure.<\/p>\n<p>The office of the Administrator is categorized under Article 70 of the Constitution and enjoys a secured tenure.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_296418\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-296418\" style=\"width: 484px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-296418\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/nana-addo-dankwa-akufo-addo-sotn.jpg\" alt=\"President Akufo-Addo\" width=\"484\" height=\"330\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-296418\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Akufo-Addo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In a <strong>Citi News<\/strong> interview, Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, described the move as a depletion of the public purse.<\/p>\n<p>He was optimistic the directive might create some challenges, given that the current Director&#8217;s indefinite leave expires after 24 months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is shocking to hear this weekend that the Director of the District Common Fund has been asked to proceed on leave. It is very unfortunate and I am saddened as a Ghanaian knowing that we are now drawing the Administrator of Common Fund into partisanship. If you look at the 1992 constitution, Article 70, it is established just like the Auditor General and some of the Chairpersons of the independent constitutional bodies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven when this gentleman has 24 months to go, he is being asked to proceed on indefinite leave.
