{"id":309191,"date":"2017-04-09T03:12:37","date_gmt":"2017-04-09T03:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=309191"},"modified":"2017-04-09T03:12:37","modified_gmt":"2017-04-09T03:12:37","slug":"vgmas-joe-mettle-makes-history-named-artiste-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/vgmas-joe-mettle-makes-history-named-artiste-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"VGMAs: Joe Mettle makes history, named &#8216;Artiste of the Year&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gospel artiste, Joe Mettle has emerged &#8216;Artiste of the Year&#8217; at the 2017 edition of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).<\/p>\n<p>He is the first gospel artiste to win the award since the inception of the VGMAs in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Mettle was nominated alongside Medikal, Stonebwoy, MzVee, Sarkodie and reigning Artiste of the Year, E.L, but managed to beat all 5 contenders to make history at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0\u2018Onwanwani\u2019 hitmaker, had earlier told <strong>citifmonline.com<\/strong> that he was hopeful he would win the award.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, he said, a lot of people have shown love and support to him by soliciting votes for him and judging from that, his hard work and the grace of God, he was confident he would win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy God\u2019s grace I have had people, some of whom I don\u2019t even know, campaign for votes for me. We have done our best.
