{"id":308864,"date":"2017-04-08T11:00:40","date_gmt":"2017-04-08T11:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=308864"},"modified":"2017-04-08T11:00:40","modified_gmt":"2017-04-08T11:00:40","slug":"aktobinsin-methodist-kg-now-a-death-trap-teachers-urge-demolition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/aktobinsin-methodist-kg-now-a-death-trap-teachers-urge-demolition\/","title":{"rendered":"Aktobinsin Methodist KG now a death trap; teachers urge demolition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teachers and pupils of Aktobinsin Methodist Kindergarten and Primary School in the Central Region, have appealed to government to demolish a dilapidated storey building which has become a near-death trap in the school.<\/p>\n<p>The building, located at Elmina, the capital of the Komenda, Edina, Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) Municipality, has developed deep and visible cracks compelling teachers to announce daily warnings to prevent the children from passing by the building.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-308865 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Aktobinsin-Methodist-Kindergarten-and-Primary-School-1.jpg\" alt=\"aktobinsin-methodist-kindergarten-and-primary-school-1\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-308866 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Aktobinsin-Methodist-Kindergarten-and-Primary-School-2.jpg\" alt=\"aktobinsin-methodist-kindergarten-and-primary-school-2\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The head teacher of Aktobinsin Methodist Kindergarten and Primary School, Janet Biney spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> and noted that the building was the school itself &#8220;is 142 years old and the building is extremely old.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very very frightening and that is why we have been chasing it up. It has to be pulled down as soon as possible\u2026 All that we are hoping for is that the government will pull this thing down,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building collapse at\u00a0Breman <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Six kindergarten pupils of the Breman Gyambra Methodist KG School were killed when their dilapidated classroom block <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/01\/31\/6-kg-pupils-die-in-classroom-collapse-at-breman-gyambra\/\">collapsed in January<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa District.<\/p>\n<p>Three other pupils were also left in a critical condition after the collapse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Akwasi Koranteng\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teachers and pupils of Aktobinsin Methodist Kindergarten and Primary School in the Central Region, have appealed to government to demolish a dilapidated storey building which has become a near-death trap in the school.
