{"id":3078,"date":"2014-03-01T11:52:36","date_gmt":"2014-03-01T11:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=3078"},"modified":"2014-03-01T11:52:36","modified_gmt":"2014-03-01T11:52:36","slug":"govt-sincere-about-improving-health-delivery-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/03\/govt-sincere-about-improving-health-delivery-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t sincere about improving health delivery- Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Ridge-Hospital-Labor-Waiting-Room-web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3079\" alt=\"Ridge Hospital Labor Waiting Room - web\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Ridge-Hospital-Labor-Waiting-Room-web-300x203.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Ridge-Hospital-Labor-Waiting-Room-web-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Ridge-Hospital-Labor-Waiting-Room-web.jpg 524w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Alfred Ekow Gyan, has stated that government is determined to improve health service delivery in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister made this known at the closing of the Western Regional Annual Performance Review Meeting of the Health sector, under the theme \u201cPrudence Financial Management for Effective Health Service Delivery,\u201d at Takoradi.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Gyan said: \u201cThis is not a political slogan but a reality that the government is pursuing\u201d and the President made bold commitments to the development of the health sector in his recent State of Union address to Parliament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that the President wants Ghana to attain the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) 4 and to actualize his belief that a healthy people are a pre-requisite and a resource for national development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Gyan added that it is government\u2019s vision to extend quality health care to all people, irrespective of one\u2019s status in society and geographical location, and that, this involves the construction of new facilities and training of health personnel.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, government is addressing all the concerns of health professionals and that, the Regional Coordinating Council would provide the enabling environment for health delivery and be part of the delivery process.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Council is committed to mobilizing resources internally to address the concerns of health professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kwaku Anin Karikari, Acting Regional Director of Health, said Out Patient attendance in the region continued to improve partly because of the National Health Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>He said some of the common reported cases by Out-patients included diarrhea, malaria and skin infections and accounts for most admissions in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Karikari noted that one of the challenges facing the regional health sector was how to make the Bia East, Bodi, Amenfi Central and Suaman District Health Administrations functional.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Alfred Ekow Gyan, has stated that government is determined to improve health service delivery in the country.
