{"id":307139,"date":"2017-04-01T18:10:23","date_gmt":"2017-04-01T18:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=307139"},"modified":"2017-04-01T18:10:23","modified_gmt":"2017-04-01T18:10:23","slug":"nana-addo-inspects-abandoned-kath-project-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/04\/nana-addo-inspects-abandoned-kath-project-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Nana Addo inspects abandoned KATH project [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Nana Akufo-Addo on Saturday inspected the abandoned\u00a01,000-bed maternity &amp; paediatric block at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as part of his visit to the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>The project has been neglected for the past 37 years after it started in 1974.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-307125 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Nana-Addo-tours-Komfo-Anokye-7.jpg\" alt=\"nana-addo-tours-komfo-anokye-7\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-307126\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Nana-Addo-tours-Komfo-Anokye-1.jpg\" alt=\"nana-addo-tours-komfo-anokye-1\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The construction firm, which is handling the project, Cymain Construction Limited, assured President Akufo-Addo that it could complete the project in two years with the requisite funding.<\/p>\n<p>The architectural consultant for the project, Betsy Owusu-Antwi, told the President $75million was needed to complete the project.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, $40 million of the amount will be for purchasing medical equipment, with the remaining $25 million needed for civil works on the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hoping that if these monies are made available, we can finish roughly in two years,\u201d the consultant said to the President.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-307129 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Nana-Addo-tours-Komfo-Anokye-4.jpg\" alt=\"nana-addo-tours-komfo-anokye-4\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-307130 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Nana-Addo-tours-Komfo-Anokye-5.jpg\" alt=\"nana-addo-tours-komfo-anokye-5\" width=\"630\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Chief Executive Office of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Joseph Akpaloo, also appealed to the President to help see to the completion of the project to address the hospital\u2019s congestion issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just want the block to be finished as early as possible.
