{"id":30679,"date":"2014-07-09T12:19:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T12:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=30679"},"modified":"2014-07-09T12:27:06","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T12:27:06","slug":"inflation-rate-for-june-hits-15-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/07\/inflation-rate-for-june-hits-15-percent\/","title":{"rendered":"Inflation rate for June hits 15 percent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inflation rate for the month of June 2014 is 15.0 percent, up by 0.2 percent from the 14.8 percent recorded in May.<\/p>\n<p>The rate of inflation for June is the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).<\/p>\n<p>The year-on-year non-food inflation rate for June 2014 was 20.3 percent compared to the 20 percent recorded for May 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The year-on-year food inflation rate for June 2014 was 7.9 percent, a fall of 0.1 percentage point from the 8.0 percent recorded for May.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Government Statistician, Philomena Nyarko also revealed that the main price drivers for the non-food inflation rate were housing, water, electricity, gas and transport.<\/p>\n<p>She further added that the price drivers for the food inflation rate were mineral water, soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee, tea and cocoa, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Madam Nyarko explained that the year-on-year inflation rate for imported items (19.1%) is about one and half times higher than the inflation rate for locally produced items (13.5%).<\/p>\n<p>The regional differentials saw the Upper East region with the highest regional year-on-year inflation rate of 18.3 percent and the Volta region record the lowest of 13.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Evans Effah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inflation rate for the month of June 2014 is 15.0 percent, up by 0.2 percent from the 14.8 percent recorded in May.
