{"id":30521,"date":"2014-07-08T17:51:00","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T17:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=30521"},"modified":"2014-07-08T17:54:16","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T17:54:16","slug":"korle-bu-ceo-ordered-to-step-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/07\/korle-bu-ceo-ordered-to-step-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Korle Bu CEO ordered to step down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Health has ordered the Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to step down.<\/p>\n<p>A statement signed by the outgoing sector Minister, Sherry Ayittey explained that a review was carried out on the performance of Reverend Albert Botchway over the past one year in pursuant to section 2, Act 525, which talks about the limitations on functions of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital board.<\/p>\n<p>Rev Botchway is to revert to his position as a member of the hospital board.<\/p>\n<p>The acting Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Samuel Asiamah has been appointed to act in the stead of Rev. Botchway until a substantive person is appointed to occupy the position.<\/p>\n<p>A letter written by the Ministry of Health explained that the functions of the teaching hospital board under Act 525, were subject to such policy directives the Minister may determine.<\/p>\n<p>It also made reference to section 17 of Act 525 where it states that the Minister may issue directives in writing to the council or board on matters of policy and that the council or board shall comply with such directives.<\/p>\n<p>Rev. Botchway is to hand over all property of Korle Bu in his possession, and provide comprehensive handing over notes to the board chair and copy same to the Minister of Health and the incoming acting Chief Executive, Dr Samuel \u00a0Asiamah.<\/p>\n<p>The senior staff association of the hospital has over the months been calling for the dismissal for the CEO for alleged mismanagement of funds.<\/p>\n<p>They subsequently petitioned the President to intervene by dissolving the hospital board chaired by Eddie Annan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Health has ordered the Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to step down.
