The Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation, a non-governmental charity organisation chaired by Ghana\u2019s First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has joined forces with four other charity organizations for a health walk aimed at raising funds for their various projects.<\/p>\n
The non-profit organizations, which include the Ghana International Women\u2019s Club, the Children\u2019s Heart Foundation, the North American Women\u2019s Association and The India Women\u2019s Association, will on Saturday, March 25, embark on a 10km walk from the Labadi beach hotel in Accra to create awareness for their various causes and solicit for funds the deprived in society.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a\u00a0press\u00a0conference in Accra, the Deputy Administrative Director of Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation, Ruth Nylander, said her NGO seeks to\u00a0build more Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compounds especially in the three regions of the north.<\/p>\n
According to her, Ghana is expected to have 2,900 CHIPS compounds, but only one thousand has so far been constructed. She added<\/p>\n
She added that, the building of these compounds will reduce child mortality and help in the fight against malaria, hence the reason to participate in the fundraising.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Ghana International Women\u2019s Club, a member, Nermine Kattah, said the funds raised from the walk will be used to purchase a machine for the radiotherapy department at Korle-Bu.<\/p>\n
For the Children\u2019s Heart Foundation Ghana, the organisation seeks to generate funds to pay the\u00a0full cost of surgery for over 40 children with heart issues.<\/p>\n
The walk, they claim, will also help create awareness on the need for Ghanaians to donate to such organisations that are of immense benefit to women and children.<\/p>\n
