{"id":302567,"date":"2017-03-17T17:30:58","date_gmt":"2017-03-17T17:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=302567"},"modified":"2017-03-17T17:30:58","modified_gmt":"2017-03-17T17:30:58","slug":"iii-fight-gjas-bogus-disqualification-lloyd-evans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/iii-fight-gjas-bogus-disqualification-lloyd-evans\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;II fight GJA&#8217;s &#8220;bogus disqualification&#8221; \u2013 Lloyd Evans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disqualified candidate for the presidency of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Lloyd Evans, has vowed to resist the decision by the incumbent executives of the association to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/17\/confusion-hits-gja-elections-over-lloyd-evans-disqualification\/\">kick him out of the race<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the GJA Elections Committee, signed by chairman of the Election Committee, Ben Assorow, said Mr. Evans is &#8220;not in good standing per the rules of engagement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;cItRAcuBUlBx9kRvLFp4CmNL0E7Zxwzd&#8221;]\u201cMr Lloyd Evans, who was vying for the position of President, failed to meet the requirement under Article 47 (b) (iii) which states that \u201cAll members aspiring for Executive positions at the National and Regional levels must be members in good standing at least ninety (90) days before the elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecords available to the Committee indicate that Mr Evans paid his membership dues covering 2015 on 5th Dec. 2016 and that for 2016 on 14th Feb, 2017.
