{"id":302297,"date":"2017-03-16T16:30:44","date_gmt":"2017-03-16T16:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=302297"},"modified":"2017-03-16T16:30:44","modified_gmt":"2017-03-16T16:30:44","slug":"assault-victim-to-file-separate-civil-suit-against-marwako","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/assault-victim-to-file-separate-civil-suit-against-marwako\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Assault&#8217; victim to file separate civil suit against Marwako"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marwako Fast Foods Limited will soon have a civil lawsuit on its hands following the alleged incidence of assault by a supervisor on a Ghanaian employee at its\u00a0Abelemkpe branch.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer for the assault victim, Francis Xavier Sosu, told journalists he intends to file a civil lawsuit against Mawarko\u00a0Fast Foods after an Accra Magistrate Court on Thursday, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/16\/marwako-assault-lebanese-supervisor-granted-bail\/\">granted bail<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to Jihad\u00a0Chabaan, the supervisor who has been charged with assault.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Chabaan is alleged to have dipped the victim&#8217;s face into\u00a0blended\u00a0pepper.\u00a0The Management of\u00a0Marwako\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/04\/marwako-suspends-lebanese-supervisor-for-assaulting-ghanaian-worker\/\">suspended<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0the supervisor after the allegations emerged.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Clearly, we take the view that this is a very serious violation of the victim. It violates her right to personal dignity under Article 15 of the constitution,\u201d Mr. Sosu said.<\/p>\n<p>The Lawyer also revealed that the suit and any related actions will be on the instruction of the victim, Evelyn Aboagye, and her family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are doing this on the express instruction of the victim and her family who want us to assist them to ensure that they get justice in this matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_299832\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-299832\" style=\"width: 783px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-299832 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Jihad-Chaaban-5.jpeg\" alt=\"Jihad Chaaban\" width=\"783\" height=\"631\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-299832\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jihad Chaaban<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Police granted Mr. Chaaban bail to the sum of GHc 20,000 with two sureties, and as part of his bail conditions, he is expected to report to the Tesano District Police Station every Tuesday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate court adjourned the case to March 20, 2017, to allow the defence counsel continue the cross-examination of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution ended its cross-examination on Thursday, but the defendant&#8217;s lawyer was unable to complete the cross-examination of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marwako Fast Foods Limited will soon have a civil lawsuit on its hands following the alleged incidence of assault by a supervisor on a Ghanaian employee at its\u00a0Abelemkpe branch.
