The office of the former President, John Mahama has denied being invited to an event to celebrate the ex-president.

A statement signed by a special aid to the president, Joyce Bawa Mogtari said, said although the former lead appreciates thought behind the event, he is unaware of the said program and has not endorsed it.

A poster, advertising an event purported to be in honour of former president John Mahama was recently circulated on social media.

According to the poster, the event will be held at the Kawukudi park in Accra on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

Although it did not give information about which group was organizing it, it urged patrons to be clad in colours of the National Democratic Congress (NDC); thus Red, White, Green and Black.

But the statement issued by the aid to the former president said, “while the former President appreciates the kind thoughts of the initiators of the said event, he has directed me to indicate that he is unaware of the said programme, he has not been informed or invited to any such programme, and he has not provided any form of endorsement for the programme.”
