The Ranking Member of Parliament\u2019s Gender and Children Committee, Hajia Ladi Ayamba, has called for the immediate deportation of the Lebanese supervisor involved in the\u00a0Marwako\u00a0assault saga.<\/p>\n

Hajia Ayamba, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Pusiga Constituency, said the act is despicable and justice must be served at all cost.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”8H7Djdb5fYlF2imb8X0bKZLB1amB8fVW”]\u201cIt\u2019s completely unfair, unacceptable. I heard that he was arrested and later given bail. In fact, such a person should not be given bail; he should be dealt with straightaway and deported,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The said supervisor, Jihad Chaaban, was charged with assault<\/strong><\/a><\/span> on Tuesday for allegedly shoving the face of a Ghanaian worker, Evelyn Boakye in blended pepper.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jihad Chaaban is alleged to have grabbed the head of the lady and dipped her face in blended pepper.<\/p>\n

He is also alleged to have subsequently locked her up with the burning and hurting eyes, preventing the other worried colleagues from helping her.<\/p>\n

The lady, whose name has been withheld in an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, said she did not do anything wrong to provoke the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to work on Sunday, and while working, one of my supervisors told me to go and blend fresh pepper. So I was blending the fresh pepper and one of the white men came out and started saying that I will spoil the blender. He asked if I couldn’t see that the blender was making noise, and I told him I was blending fresh pepper\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Narrating the incident, she stated that, \u201che took the blender and poured the pepper out, and put my face into the blender and the pepper entered my eyes so I washed my face and the situation worsened\u201d. She added that, the managers of the facility prevented her from going home after the incident \u201cso that I wouldn’t report the case\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jihad arrested, charged <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Lebanese supervisor at the centre of the assault case has been formally charged with assault by the Police.<\/p>\n

He has subsequently been remanded into Police custody.<\/p>\n

Minister orders probe by Labour Department<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has tasked the Labour Department to investigate<\/strong><\/a><\/span> the assault case.<\/p>\n

The Minister has given the Labour Department a week to conclude the investigations.<\/p>\n
