{"id":299282,"date":"2017-03-07T06:10:27","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=299282"},"modified":"2017-03-07T06:10:27","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T06:10:27","slug":"akufo-addo-cuts-sod-for-construction-of-national-cathedral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/akufo-addo-cuts-sod-for-construction-of-national-cathedral\/","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo cuts sod for construction of national Cathedral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Akufo-Addo has cut the\u00a0sod for the construction of a national cathedral in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The cathedral will serve as a national non-denominational Christian worship centre for the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/07\/akufo-addo-cuts-sod-for-construction-of-national-cathedral\/sod-cutting-for-cathedral-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299886\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299886\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Sod-cutting-for-Cathedral-3.jpg\" alt=\"sod-cutting-for-cathedral-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The project is part of the many others that will be undertaken in various parts of the country as part of Ghana\u2019s diamond jubilee celebrations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/07\/akufo-addo-cuts-sod-for-construction-of-national-cathedral\/sod-cutting-for-cathedral-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299885\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299885\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Sod-cutting-for-Cathedral-2.jpg\" alt=\"sod-cutting-for-cathedral-2\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a short ceremony to cut the\u00a0sod for the project, President Akufo-Addo said, the lack of such infrastructure in the country prompted him to take the initiative which he said will serve a very important purpose for the Christian community in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He added that funding for the project will be sourced from the Christian community and Churches in the country.<\/p>\n<p>An 11-member committee has been tasked to raise funds for the project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/07\/akufo-addo-cuts-sod-for-construction-of-national-cathedral\/sod-cutting-for-cathedral-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-299884\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299884\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Sod-cutting-for-Cathedral-1.jpg\" alt=\"sod-cutting-for-cathedral-1\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Details of the deadline for the construction of the cathedral which will be located behind the Parliament house are yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>Heads of the various Christian denominations and Churches including the leader of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensah Otabil; leader of the Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams; Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev.
