{"id":297304,"date":"2017-02-26T14:00:41","date_gmt":"2017-02-26T14:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=297304"},"modified":"2017-02-26T14:00:41","modified_gmt":"2017-02-26T14:00:41","slug":"6th-march-confirmed-public-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/6th-march-confirmed-public-holiday\/","title":{"rendered":"6th March confirmed public holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Interior Ministry has confirmed Monday, 6<sup>th<\/sup> March, 2017 as a statutory public holiday.<\/p>\n<p>A statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery said the day must be observed as such throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?attachment_id=297305\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-297305\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-297305\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Holiday1.jpg\" alt=\"holiday1\" width=\"638\" height=\"806\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6<sup>th<\/sup> March, 2017 marks Ghana\u2019s 60<sup>th<\/sup> independence anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration of this year\u2019s independence anniversary is under the theme, \u201cMobilizing for Ghana\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the celebration, the president, Nana Akufo-Addo constituted at 30-member <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/01\/26\/akufo-addo-inaugurates-30-member-ghana60-committee\/\"><strong>committee<\/strong><\/a><\/span> chaired by Mr Ken Amankwah to plan and organize the various events that will characterize the celebration across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The committee, which subsequently announced it will work for free has announced a number of programs including a trade fair, musical concert and technology innovation challenge lined up for the anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Cost of anniversary celebration\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo while unveiling the logo and theme for the celebration announced that the budget for the anniversary events was <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/09\/nana-addo-unveils-ghana60-logo-celebration-to-cost-ghc20m\/\"><strong>GH\u00a220 million<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>and urged private enterprises to come on board and take up part of the cost.<\/p>\n<p>A deputy chief of staff, Abu Jinapor in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> said the GH\u00a220 million budget was not only for events and \u201cparties\u201d but to complete some legacy projects and social interventions in various communities across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jnyabor\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @jnyabor<\/a><\/p>\n<p><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Interior Ministry has confirmed Monday, 6th March, 2017 as a statutory public holiday.
