The members of the Progressive Road Contractors Association have abandoned all road construction projects across the country.<\/p>\n
This is to protest government\u2019s failure to direct funds into the Ghana Road Fund over a long period of time.<\/p>\n
The delay in releasing the funds has further led to the deterioration of road networks nationwide.<\/p>\n
The Vice President of the Association, Hammond Larbi, in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> lamented over the inadequate government funding which has forced the contractors to pre-finance the projects.<\/p>\n He said this constraint has slowed down major road projects adding that, \u201cthe contractors are funding the road networks for the country. We are doing that at our own expense; we are paying huge interest to the banks.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Larbi indicated that the association has contacted government and is awaiting a response.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have spoken to our Ministry and it has presented a memorandum to the finance ministry to be sent to cabinet for approval.
