Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, has asked government to urgently form a bi-partisan group of advisers to help them address the nation\u2019s current economic challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is no longer a matter of public debate that Ghana\u2019s economy is in crisis; I will like to make a proposal to government, that as a matter of urgency it should put together a bi-partisan team of expects to develop and formulate a new economic reconstruction program for Ghana,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the new economic reconstruction should have the private sector, business interest and job creation at the centre.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kyerematen was speaking at the NPP\u2019s headquarters on Thursday when he filed his nomination to contest the party’s primaries for presidential candidates.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026 This program should be anchored to address four key issues affecting Ghana; to arrest the decline in the value of our currency, to significantly reduce government borrowing, thirdly to reduce inflation on a long-term basis and lastly for government to introduce policy measures that will lead to a decline in interest rate,\u2019\u2019 he suggested.<\/p>\n
Alan Kyeremanteng is the first to file his nomination and is optimistic that he will get the mandate of the NPP to lead the party as the flagbearer.<\/p>\n
Other interested presidential hopefuls who are yet to submit their nominations forms are Mr Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, former MP for Offinso North, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, MP for Assuogyaman, Mr Kofi Osei Ameyaw, \u00a0the 2008 and 2012 \u00a0flag bearer of the \u00a0NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and former Information Minister, Mr \u00a0Stephen Asamoah Boateng.<\/p>\n
The aspirants paid GHc10, 000 for picking the nomination forms.<\/p>\n
