The Health Insurance Service Providers Association of Ghana (HISPAG) says it is considering legal action against the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to retrieve monies owed them.<\/p>\n
HISPAG has begun a gradual withdrawal of services to NHIS card holders due to government\u2019s inability to pay claims.<\/p>\n
The Director of operations and communications for HISPAG, Mr. Anthony Ameka has been explained Citi News<\/b> the reason why they want to resort to the courts.<\/p>\n
\u201cBetween us and NHIS what we can do is to sue them to take our money and also sue them for interest on the accrued money. At our national executive council meeting, this issue was referred to the legal directory. They will come back to us and we will look at it.\u201d He said.<\/p>\n
He went on to explain that they have been pushed to the wall to take such measures.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cwe have not received the funds from the NHIA but the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is taking our people to court for delayed payment. SSNIT is taking our people to court for delayed payment and is requesting for interest on the money. So we can equally do same for National Health Insurance.\u201d<\/p>\n
