{"id":294531,"date":"2017-02-15T15:13:17","date_gmt":"2017-02-15T15:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=294531"},"modified":"2017-02-15T15:13:17","modified_gmt":"2017-02-15T15:13:17","slug":"gra-closes-down-packplus-ltd-for-owing-gh%c2%a22-6m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/02\/gra-closes-down-packplus-ltd-for-owing-gh%c2%a22-6m\/","title":{"rendered":"GRA closes down Packplus Ltd for owing GH\u00a22.6m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Special Revenue Mobilisation Task force of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has closed down PackPlus International Limited over tax default between 2013 and 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The company has defaulted in paying its taxes\u00a0between the three year period amounting to GH\u00a22,642,874.17.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69226 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/packplus-5.jpeg\" alt=\"packplus 5\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The action carried out on Wednesday, is in fulfillment of the provisions of Section 34 of the VAT Act 1998 (Act 546), VAT 2013 (Act 870) and Income Tax Act 2015 (Act 896) which states that distress will be levied on all distrainable things of businesses to recover the sum\u00a0 of money owed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69227 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/packplus-6.jpeg\" alt=\"packplus 6\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> on the matter, the Co-ordinator for the Task Force at the GRA, Henry Sam said the action has become necessary as the company had defaulted despite an initial caution.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69223 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/packplus-2.jpeg\" alt=\"packplus 2\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He added that the payment plan outlined by the company could not be accepted as the monthly commitment of 5,000 cedis would take up to over 50 years to defray the outstanding tax obligation.<\/p>\n<p>Packplus International Limited which deals in air conditions has up to fourteen days to clear the outstanding taxes or risk an outright sale of its property by the GRA.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69222 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/packplus-1.jpeg\" alt=\"packplus 1\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we have done is reinstating the distress order.
