{"id":2935,"date":"2014-02-28T12:40:36","date_gmt":"2014-02-28T12:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=2935"},"modified":"2014-02-28T12:40:36","modified_gmt":"2014-02-28T12:40:36","slug":"kpong-water-shutdown-wont-exceed-3-days-gwcl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/02\/kpong-water-shutdown-wont-exceed-3-days-gwcl\/","title":{"rendered":"Kpong water shutdown won\u2019t exceed 3 days &#8211; GWCL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/water-shortage1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2937\" alt=\"water shortage\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/water-shortage1-300x222.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/water-shortage1-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/water-shortage1.jpg 412w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured the general public the shutdown of the Kpong water treatment plant will not exceed the stipulated three days which ends on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The company shut down the plant on Thursday to allow for repair works.<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to reduce the impact of the shut down, the GWCL has employed the services of private water tankers to provide water to major hospitals and Senior High Schools with boarding facilities in both the Accra and Tema Metropolis.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Public Relations Manager at the GWCL, Michael Agyemang told Citi News, the shutdown is necessary as the maintenance works on the plant in the next three months will produce another 3.3 million gallons of water to Accra, Prampram, Michelle camp, Somanya and its environs.<\/p>\n<p>He maintained that the shutdown will not go beyond Sunday because his outfit will start pumping water to ensure that \u201call those areas that were getting their water from Kpong will get.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Agyemang however clarified that the water rationing situation which was in existence in Accra will continue \u201cuntil the situation receives a boost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned some suburbs of Accra including \u201cMichelle Camp, Prampram all the way to Somanya, the Akwuapim hills and the rest; all those areas will benefit under the project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured the general public the shutdown of the Kpong water treatment plant will not exceed the stipulated three days which ends on Sunday.
